One of the China’s three major airlines group, China Eastern Airlines was established on 25 June 1988.
The carrier was China’s first airline to offer shares on the international market (was listed in New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchange in 1997). Headquartered in Changning district, Shanghai, China on the grounds of Shanghai Hongqiao international airport, the airlines has secondary hubs at Xi’an Xianyang and Kunming Changshui international airports. By passenger numbers, the carrier is China’s second largest and in 2011 it became 14th member of Sky Team. The airlines offer Eastern miles program for its frequent fliers. With 217 destinations, the airline operates domestic, regional and international routes with a fleet size of 387.
With Liu Shaoyong as the chairman, the carrier employs 68,874 employees; China Eastern Airlines is engaged in transforming from a traditional air carrier to a modern services provider. With a slogan of “Travelling the globe, making dreams come true”, the carrier strives to win customers loyalty, staff devotion, public trust and shareholders’ satisfaction. The airlines have been awarded various awards like Golden Ting Award by China Capital Market, 2013, got a place in top 25 Most innovative Chinese companies and 2012 Best corporation award.
