9. Phoenix

Phoenix IT Group provides a range of IT infrastructure support services as a managed service contractor, direct contractor, subcontractor, or fully outsourced contractor.


In 1979, it was established as Futex Computers Ltd while in the year 1999; Phoenix IT Group was first created. In the year 2004, Trend Network Services was also acquired by Phoenix IT Group and subsequently the company went public in the London Stock Exchange through an initial public offering. Following this, in 2005 the Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) Ltd was acquired by Phoenix IT Group after which it went on to become one of UK’s top 12 companies to gain the BS15000 accreditation which it transitioned to ISO20000 in January, 2007. In 2006, Servo Computer Services Ltd was also acquired by Phoenix IT Group and in the year 2007, they acquired ICM Computer Group plc. Following this in the year 2008, ICM and NDR merged to form an alliance and become ICM Business Continuity. In 2011, ICM and Servo merged to create a single source IT services and business continuity provider while in the year 2012, Phoenix IT Services and ICM allied to become Phoenix. Thus Phoenix is currently the trading name of Phoenix IT Group plc, which is now listed on the London Stock Exchange and is also a profitable and financially stable business. In the FY 2014 it had revenues of £234m, over 3,500 customers and 2,100 staff, making it number 9 in the top 10 UK companies list in the information technology sector.
