The 3M Company, which was originally known as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, is currently an American giant international firm which is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

With over $30 billion in net revenue, 3M globally employs more than about 88,000 people across all the continents and produces more than 55,000 products which include adhesives, laminates, abrasives, elec. circuits and ocular films. 3M is currently operative in more than 65 countries which include about 29 international companies which has the manufacturing operations and above 35 companies with laboratories. 3M products are normally available for purchase through local chains of distributors and retailers in more than 200 countries around the world, and online straight from the corporation’s website. The company was started by mining stone from quarries which was further used in grind wheel. Stressed with the value and advertising of its goods, administration backed its personnel to innovate and make new products, which became its core trade. About 12 years following its beginning, 3M developed its first exclusive product: Three-M-cloth. Other innovations in this era included mask and scotch tapes. In 1929, 3M made its initial move towards international expansion by forming Durex to carry out its business in Europe. 3M’s stock was initially traded above the counter in the year 1929 and was subsequently listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 1946. The company is presently a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and of the S&P 500.
