7. Bharti Enterprises

This Indian conglomerate was founded in 1976 by Sunil Bharti Mittal.

The company that began its business by manufacturing bicycles, has diversified over the years and is one of the major business groups of the country. A major turning point for the group was when it entered the telecommunications business in 1995 as Bharti Airtel. Since then it has grown by leaps and bounds with presence in diverse industries like retail, insurance, real estate, digital television apart from telecommunications. Presently, they operate in over 20 nations, mainly through the Airtel brand and employ over 35000 people. This group has grown both organically and inorganically and strongly believes in forging partnerships. It has partnered up with industry bigwigs like Ericsson, IBM, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens. In its insurance business it has AXA Group as a partner, while Del Monte Pacific assists it in its processes foods segment. For its philanthropic activities, Bharti foundation has been set up that aims to bring about societal development through sustainable changes.
