In the beginning, it used to operate as a wholesaler supplying roasted coffee to specialist Italian coffee shops and caterers. Since its acquisition by Whitbread in 1995, it has grown to more than 2,861 stores across the globe. By 2010, the company had overtaken Starbucks in UK with a 45.6% market share.
