7. Nintendo

Nintendo, founded in 1889 is the oldest player in the industry, with an experience of 125 years.

The company, headquartered in Kyoto, Japan was found by Hiroshi Yamauchi. Since then, it climbed fast to be the best gaming companies ever. For quite long, Nintendo was synonymous with video games. Mario, Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda are some of its hugely popular offerings. Even now, Mario is one of the most famous video game character ever created, with its theme song as popular as the series itself.

In 1983, they came out with first ever gaming console- the Nintendo Entertainment System, which was widely accepted and hugely popular worldwide. Then came their Super Nintendo United console, in 1990s, which was one of the most well received consoles ever. Initially hesitant about allowing third party developments on their video games consoles, Nintendo has moved on to allow external development on its consoles.

Nintendo created its flagship product, Super Mario Bros, in which a plumber named Mario has to save Princess Peach from the King Koopa. Other titles created by the company include Link, Smash Brothers Wii Fit, Metroid, etc.

The only negative thing about Nintendo is its track record in making consoles. Leaving apart original NES, SNES and Gameboy franchise, the company has come up with rather shabby consoles. That keeps it away from being the number one developer of all time.
