Santander UK plc is UK bank which is wholly owned by Spanish Santander Group.
This bank manages most of its affairs autonomously, with the help of its own local management team, which is solely responsible for its own performance. Santander UK is one of the United Kingdom's leading financial services companies (personal) and is one of the biggest providers of savings and mortgages in the United Kingdom. The bank has around 20,000 employees, 14 million customers (active), almost 1,010 branches and around 50 corporate business centres. Santander UK, with its head office at the London Borough of Camden, was founded on 11 January 2010, at that time, Abbey National plc was merged with the business of Bradford & Bingley plc, and was renamed Santander UK plc. From 2007- 2010, the bank was ranked as the worst bank for its customer service in one of the Study. However, its huge product range of ‘123’ was ranked third in the United Kingdom in 2013 and also in a moneysavingexpert.com poll held in 2014, most of the customers ranked their satisfaction higher when compared with any other high street banks. In 2011, Moody's downgraded the credit rating of around 12 UK financial companies including Santander UK, blaming their financial weakness. However, In June 2012, it rated Santander UK as being in a better financial position as compared to its parent company. Currently the bank is headed by Nathan Bostock (CEO).
