10. BookMyShow

Launched in the year 2007, BookMyShow is India’s biggest movie and event ticketing portal.

The site sells movie tickets, play passes, concert and sporting event tickets through their robust online platform. Headquartered in Mumbai, it has regional offices at New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. Considered to be one of the most successful mobile ecommerce app in India, 60% of the company’s business comes through the mobile application platform. Founded by Ashish Hemrajani, Parikshit Dar and Rajesh Balpande, the major purpose of the company was to bring the concept of online movie ticketing to the country. It presently employs more than 400 people. The company was initially funded by Network18 in the year 2007. Later Accel partners and global equity investors like SAIF Partners have pumped in money into the company. The company has acquired TicketGreen, an online ticketing company and Eventifier, a social media analytics startup.
