Digital First Media group owns the newspaper. It was founded in 1892 and headquartered at Denver, USA. It was launched as “The Evening Post” as a democratic paper. In 1895 the paper was renamed to “Denver Evening Post”. In 1901 it attained the name Denver Post. Gene Flower and sob sister were among the prominent reporters of the post. They worked for short duration in 1905-06 before they became popular faces of New York. In 2001 Media News and E.W. Scripps formed a Joint operating agreement-forming Denver Newspaper Agency where the newspapers from two of them agreed to publish separate editions where the Post retained the broadsheet format and The News had to use the tabloid format. In 2011, John Paton was appointed the CEO of Media News group. There was also an agreement with Digital First Media to provide management services and lead the company’s business strategy. The Denver Post won 9 Pulitzer award. It also won 22 top awards in Colorado journalism contest. It entered into a controversy when in 2014 it started a section “Energy and Environment” which is funded by Coloradans for Responsible Energy Development (CRED). But outsiders posted stories in this section so critics expressed concerns that it might risk readers getting confused between advertising and reporting.
