Delivery Hero, a billion dollar online takeout food service that is based in Berlin, Germany announced on 5th May 2015 its plans to buy Yemeksepeti.

It is another online food ordering company that allows its users to place online orders from their favorite restaurants , without any extra service fee. The deal will be completed in cash and stock and is said to be the largest acquisition in the online food ordering sector.
Delivery Hero, has its presence in 29 countries including UK, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, South Korea and China, and some countries in Middle East and Latin America. It has approximately 10,000 restaurants partners all around the world. It allows its users to find restaurants in their order, browse menus, checkout the restaurant timings and order takeaway food online. The payment can be completed using credit card, PayPal as well as with cash on delivery. There is a mobile app as well for Delivery Hero. Yemeksepeti, meaning ‘food cart’ in Turkish, was launched in 2001 and currently has its presence in 57 cities in Turkey and Cyprus, with over 2.9 million users. Apart from Turkey and Cyprus, the company is also active in Saudi Arabia, Omar, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Qatar. The business that Yemeksepeti has in Middle East complements the market leader position of Delivery Hero. The deal enhances the position of Delivery Hero in the middle east and has further strengthened Delivery Hero’s place as the worldwide market leader.
