Its present CEO is Hiroaki Nakanishi and Chairman is Takashi Kawamura. It is ranked 38th in the 2012 Fortune Global 500. The company is a part of the DKB Group of Companies. In 2011, Hitachi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had negotiated to merge in what was then the biggest merger of two companies in Japanese history. The negotiations however broke down and the merger did not happen. In the year 2014, various tech articles around the world that were published claimed that the Hitachi’s hard disks were the most reliable among all hard disk providers in the market.
