10. Bharti Airtel

It was founded in July 1995 by Sunil Bharti Mittal. It has operations in 20 countries across Africa and South Asia. Services provided by Airtel are 3G, GSM and 4G LTE and broadband services. It had 192.22 million subscribers in India in August 2013. Airtel is famous for its business strategy of outsourcing its business operations except finance, marketing and sales. This was the first time any player in cellular service followed this strategy and it has been followed by other players since Airtel started following. Its telecom equipment is maintained by Nokia and Ericsson while its IT is taken care of by IBM. Airtel focusses on B2B and B2C business segments. The B2C segment provides services to the retail customers, small offices and homes while the B2B segment deals with large corporate accounts. It also provides digital TV services (Direct to Home) under its brand Airtel Digital TV. In March 2010, Airtel bought Zain’s mobile operations for $10.7 billion in 15 countries. In August 2010, it announced to acquire 100% stake in Telecom Seychelles. Airtel has also sponsored many events and teams as a part of its rebranding strategy. In 2009, it struck a deal with Manchester United to broadcast its matches. It also signed a deal with ESPN Star Sports for the Champions league cricket. It was also the title sponsor for the first F1 race in India.
