Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited is a state owned oil and gas company head quartered in Mumbai.

It has been conferred Navratna status. The government of India holds approximately 51% shares in HPCL. Nishi Vasudeva is the Chairman and MD of the company. It was incorporated in 1974. It has 2 major refineries, one in Mumbai and one in Vishakhapatnam having a combined capacity of 14.8 MMTPA (Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum). Its products include petrol which is also called motor spirit in the industry, diesel, lubricants, LPG, Aviation turbine fuel, bitumen and furnace oil. Its subsidiaries include Prize petroleum company ltd, HPCL biofuels ltd, HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd. HPCL has a 17% stake in Mangalore refinery which is a state of the art refinery with 9 MMTPA capacity. Another refinery is set up in Bathinda with a joint venture with Mittal Energy Investments Pvt Ltd which has a capacity of 9 MMTPA.
