It is head quartered in Mumbai. It has 2 large refineries in Kochi and Mumbai. BPCL was ranked 242 in Fortune 500 global rankings in 2014. In all it has 4 refineries. Mumbai refinery has a capacity of 12 million tonnes per year. Kochi refinery has a capacity of 9.5 million tonnes per year. Bina and Nulamigarh refinery have capacities of 6 and 3 million tonnes per year respectively. It was India’s 3rd largest company by turnover in FY15 with a sales turnover of INR 2,379 billion. The government of India holds 55% shares in the company. Its key business verticals are refinery, retail, upstream, gas, lubricants, lpg and aviation. It launched branded fuel called Speed in India and has over 5700 automated outlets and 165 convenience stores. It has made use of ERP systems of SAP to increase its efficiency. It is currently planning to increase its capacity in Kochi to 15.5 million tonnes per year. It is also in the process of investment in gas pipelines through GIGL and GITL joint ventures and also upgrading the Mumbai refinery. It is listed on Bombay stock exchange as well as the National stock exchange.
