It is head quartered in Mumbai. It is present in various sectors like energy, textiles, petrochemicals, retail, natural resources and telecommunications. RIL was the most profitable company in India for the last 23 years running. It is also the 2nd largest publicly traded company in India by market cap. It was ranked 114th on Fortune 500 global list in 2014. It has a significant contribution to the total exports done by India. It is led by Mukesh Ambani. The company was founded in 1966 by Dhirubhai Ambani. Ambani family holds 45% of the total shares while the rest are held by the public. The company is listed on the Bombay stock exchange as well as the National stock exchange. Its GDRs are listed on Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The company’s petrochemical, oil & gas and refining business form the core of its business. More than 75% of the revenue comes from refining and about 20% comes from petrochemicals.
