1. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is a multinational oil and natural gas company with its headquarters located in Dehra Dun.

It operates under the control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It is the largest oil and gas production and exploration company of India.
It produces approximately 69% of India’s crude oil and 62% of India’s natural gas. It was conferred the Maharatna status in 2010.
It was founded in 1956 by the government of India. At present it owns 68.94% stake in the enterprise. ONGC explores about 26 sedimentary basins in India for hydrocarbons and operates over 11000 kilometres of pipelines in the country. It has an international subsidiary under the name of ONGC Videsh that operates in 15 countries. It has also featured in the Fortune Global 500 List and Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies List.
The international arm of ONGC which is ONGC Videsh has a presence in Brazil, Columbia, Cuba, Venezuela, Vietnam, Myanmar, Russia, Kazakhstan, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan & South Sudan, Mozambique, Iraq and Syria. ONGC also has the following two joint ventures:
• ONGC Tripura Power Company: It is a JV between ONGC, International Leasing and Financial Services Limited and the Government of Tripura
• ONGC Petro Additions Limited: It is a multi-billion JV promoted by ONGC and co-promoted by GAIL and GSPC.
ONGC is listed in both the BSE and the NSE. The shareholding pattern of the company is as follows:
ONGC has received several accolades including the Most Attractive Employer in the Energy sector in Ranstad Awards 2013. In 2014, it was one of 12 winners of the Golden Peacock award for its corporate social responsibility activities.
