Burger King, abbreviated as BK, is an American global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants and has its headquarters in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States.
It owns a total of 15003 restaurants present in more than 50 countries worldwide and it has changed many hands since its inception and now is under the flagship of Restaurant Brands International. Whopper, the signature hamburger of BK was introduced in 1957 was a major addition to the menu which gained a lot of popularity.
BK has lured customers with their promotions like 10 chicken nuggets for $1.49. Burger King owes it success to one thing- success. It introduces new menu items based on old ingredients offering the customers new options without affecting employees and their service.
History- Keith J. Kramer and Matthew Burns founded Insta-Burger King named after the machine they used to make burgers- Insta Broiler. The concept garnered a huge popularity. In 1959, James McLamore and David R. Edgerton bought the company when it was in a bad state and decided to revamp Insta-Burger King by first naming it Burger King. Though it had its share of ups and downs, but 1980s proved to be a very difficult time for Burger King with its major advertisements and new menu additions failing to garner attention. It reinvented itself under the leadership of Grand Met in 1990s. BK launched an aggressive restructuring campaign by redesigning its structure from its logo to packaging. This change was reflected in the soaring sales both in the domestic and international markets.
