TVS Group was founded by TV Sundaram Iyengar in 1978 and has its headquarters in Chennai, India.
TVS Motor Company is the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India. Apart from manufacturing motorcycles TVS Group also spans across Industries like Aviation, Electronics, Finance, Housing, Logistics, Textiles as well as Automobiles and has over 90 companies under its umbrella.
TVS manufactures wide range of motorcycles like Apache series RTR, Phoenix 125, Star City, Sport and its Scooters include Jupiter, Wego and the most popular Scooty Pep that shook the mass with its light weight and performance. It also manufacturers Mopeds which includes XL Heavy Duty, XL Super and XL 100.
TVS has four manufacturing plants and three are located in India and one in Indonesia. The plants in India are at Hosur in Tamil Nadu, Mysore in Karnataka and Nalagarh in Himanchal Pradesh. In 2005-06 TVS entered into joint Venture with Columbian party for exploring the new opportunities in Columbian market. TVS has always been famous for manufacturing trendy superior bikes that are best for the people they target. TVS and Suzuki shared a relationship for 19 years which was basically for the transfer of technology and the expertise required for manufacturing two-wheelers for the Indian market.
TVS racing partnered with Sherco, French motorcycle manufacturer to become the first Indian factory team to take part in Dakar Rally, one of the most dangerous and longest rally in the world. TVS has won almost 90 percent of the races in the last three decades of its racing history.
