3. Yamaha

Yamaha started its journey in 1955 when it separated from Yamaha Corporation and is headquartered in Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan.

Yamaha is the company which manufactures all types of motorcycles ranging from street bikes to dirt bikes. It started as a Piano company and then after World War 2 it formed a separate Yamaha division that manufactured bikes.


Yamaha is currently one of the top motorcycle producer of the world currently and is known for putting design in its sports bikes. Yamaha also manufactures scooters, boats, snowboards, automobile engines and helmets as well as imports and exports various motorized products.

Yamaha first motorcycle was two cycle 125cc single cylinder, the YA-1 which became a success in racing by winning the top title in Mt. Fuji Ascent Race and All Japan Autobike Endurance Roadrace. It also competed internationally with YA-1 where they were placed sixth in the list. Yamaha has been a star player in racing throughout the history and has strong rivalry with major competitors like Honda and other Japanese bike makers.

Yamaha always had an in-depth knowledge of engines and thereby it launched 650cc x in 1970 with two stroke technology and S-1, the first motorcycle that featured four-stroke engine. YZF R1 was one of the most popular super-sport model of the decade.

Apart from engines, Yamaha also focuses on design and its headlights in the front resembles the eyes of lively creatures that is its signature design mostly in all bikes. Yamaha is the winner of many world championships in World superbike and Moto GP events with many famous drivers in the past.
