The company’s Headquarters are situated in Boulevard des Italiens, Paris, France and it was formed with the merger of two companies named BNP and Paribas in 2000. The individual companies were major financial services companies in France before the merger.


The BNP Paribas group is organized around two major activities namely Retail Banking and services and Corporate and Institutional Banking. Retail banking segment comprises of Domestic and International Financial services customers. It also engages in investment management services and sovereign debt management products as part of its product portfolio.

With a presence of over 75 nations, it is one of the most extensive banking networks in the world. The company operates primarily in major European economies i.e. France, UK, Italy, and Belgium along with investment banking operations in London, Paris, Singapore, New York and Hong Kong. The group also has presence in developing economies like India, where it is the 2nd oldest foreign bank to start operations.

The final ranking was arrived based on the value derived from the above formula.
