Definition: Ask Price

Ask price is one of the components of the quotes of financial contracts on exchanges which is called a bid-ask quote with the difference between them known as a spread.

An ask price also known as the offer price is the price at which a dealer is ready to sell a security/contract. An important point to note is that an ask price is the minimum price for which a seller is ready to sell the security/contract.

This price can also be of two types based on whether it is negotiable or a firm price which doesn’t have scope for any form of negotiation.
