Definition: Performance Bonus

Performance Bonus is essentially additional compensation given to an employee for exceptional performance or for achieving a particular target. 

Not everyone is entitled to this bonus. Usually, the decision is made once the performance review process is completed. If it is found that the employee or a group of employees (assigned to a particular project) have performed exceptionally well, exceeded expectations, or have achieved some pre-set targets, this bonus is awarded to them.
