Definition: Long-Term Orientation

A Long-Term Orientation is a concept where individuals, companies etc work towards the future with the aim to reaping benefits in the long period.  Long-term orientation is one of the ways of studying the various aspects of culture.

Long term orientation means that a company or an individual has set focus on long term goals, even if that means that they have to let go of certain immediate success. It focuses on major aspects like persistence, ability to adapt, constant handwork and saving for the future.

On the contrary, short-term orientation focuses on immediate and short term goals.

It is a concept relating culture to the past, present and future, and how people perceive it along with their long term goals.
