Definition: Shelf Talker

Any sign such as a printed cardboard, paper or plastic advertisement attached to a store shelf to gain the attention of the buyer to the particular product exhibited on the shelf. In some modern shops electronic screens are also used as shelf talkers. Shelf Talker is also referred as the Shelf Screamer. Shelf Talkers work as attention seekers for the product – they entice clients to stop, look and read the message relating to the product.

This becomes a key factor in increasing the sales as the customer spends considerable amount of time in interacting with the product through the shelf talkers. The messages displayed can be as simple as “Try Me! “.

Besides enticing the client, they serve to inspire and educate the client about the product being offered.
