Definition: Book Club

It is described as a group of people who come together and meet regularly. Members of a book club typically receive periodicals or books which are not easily available at their nearby book stores. The mode of delivery is through mails and the book companies directly send the books or magazines which are subscribed to the members of the Book club. The members also get a discount based on the amount of subscription. Usually the book clubs follow a particular genre like psychology, mystery, romance, science fiction, comic books etc. These are called specialized book clubs. There is no limit to the number of members in a book club.

This presents a marketing opportunity as a company can send their advertisements through the mails. The companies can choose a book club based on the demographics of the club and send targeted ads to them. Visibility and readership of these advertisements is immensely targeted.

In some of the book clubs the members also have the option to return the order if they don’t want a particular book.
