Definition: Spending Phase

Spending phase is known as the period after retirement where a person lives of governmental subsidy, pension, retirement plans, investments made earlier for this phase. In another context, this term is associated with the purchasing funnel. It is one of the major steps in the purchasing decision making process.

Spending phase occurs between action and loyalty phase in the traditional marketing purchasing funnel.

If we consider the McKinsey’s traditional purchase funnel, the Spending phase occurs during purchase. Purchasing leads to loyalty or sometimes to rejection of the good.
