Definition: RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)

RFID is a technology in which objects can be identified using a RFID tag which transmits Radio frequency between receiver and transmitter helping in data exchange.

A RFID system is composed of tags and a corresponding reader. The tags carry the data in suitable transponders while the RFID reader retrieves the data from the tags.

RFID is used in many fields ranging from shopping malls to every educational institute. Manufacturing companies use this RFID tagging system to track parts and finished products for improved production.

Eg: Goa institute of Management has even totally revolutionized their campus using RFID system where is students ID cards are tagged with this RFID tags. Students can use this same card for all their financial transactions as well as for their regular attendance record.
