Definition: Uniform Code Council (UCC)

It is the governing council in America where it is in charge if the following  organizations  It is also known as  GS1 member.

  • It assigns and creates the Uniform  Product code  which is  a twelve digit code given to the manufacturer of a standard product
  • The electronic data exchange guidelines were  framed by the GS1  which was used for  X 12 standards , grocery items ,  industrial items  and general  trade merchandises.

Example of UCC:

It clearly states the assigning of a   standard  12 digit bar code  explicitly to a container  being use for  identification.

It is also instructs them to scan all the Point of purchase articles  and using an upgraded version of UCC 12 . It was both human and electronically readable .
