Definition: Deadhead

It is a term used in the transport sector. It is used in aviation, rail and roads. It is also known as ‘Deadheading’

When the crew/staff of an airline travel in the aircraft but are not working, it is termed as deadheading. It is said so because they travel free of cost. This generally occurs when the staff needs to take up duties elsewhere and hence they need to travel to the designated place to work.
