Brief Project Description & Responsibilities:

The title of the project was M-agriculture under which my research objective was “to identify potential scope of digitization of financial transactions & services in the value chain of agriculture in India”.

For this project I was supposed to collect information regarding existing DFS model in the global world from primary as well as secondary sources. These models were linked with the Indian Agriculture Ecosystem and as a part of my final deliverable- a new DFS model which could be fitted in the agri-value chain of India was submitted.

What was the overview of the project? Elaborate with some details

The project duration was only 8 weeks and in that period a lot of work was to be done. It was an Independent Research Project which was supposed to be managed within the given time span. So, after reading a lot about the topic given, we had to submit an inception report about our future activities and research objective. The whole project was duly monitored by the senior manager of the department. Also, the domain leader was engaged as he was asking for weekly updates. To study some existing digital models in agricultural space, I had to contact many International development agencies, Research Institutes supporting producer companies, NGOs and government organizations. As the domain space was very large it was not feasible to go for field visit everywhere therefore I had to do telephonic interview with these organizations. After studying and analysing the whole agri ecosystem my final report was prepared with some new models that could be implemented. Also, a number of suggestions were given to improve existing scenario in agriculture.

Share your daily routine & overall summer internship experience.

I had an amazing experience full of enrichment, excitement and learning. The working hours were morning 9 am to evening 6 pm. In between from 1- 2 pm was lunch hours. Good thing here was that my office was functional for only 5 days a week. So, weekends were mostly free unless some report or work was assigned. Getting up early in the morning (as we were supposed to be in formals whether on field or in office) and sleeping before the midnight (as this is never a case in hostel-XUB) became a usual habit.

Overall, if you are a fresher then summers are the best place to acknowledge you about how a company or an organization works, what are the ethical code of conduct to be practiced inside the organization, how professional you are in your behaviour and work, and a lot of enrichment due to sharing knowledge among your colleagues and seniors. Therefore, I am very happy to have such an insightful and gaining experience during my summer internship.

How was the selection process conducted?

My selection was part of Summer Internship Placements conducted by the student’s placement cell of the college. Company held two rounds for the selection procedure, first being the write up and then shortlisted candidates were asked for telephonic interview.

What were your key learnings from the summer internship?
