Founded by Davos Thomas in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, it was one of the very fast growing chains in the fast-food industry. There was a time when Davos worked for Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC.

It had opened 500 restaurants by 1976 and within a span of 2 years another 500 restaurants were added. It has become a go-to place for all the customers by offering a wide variety of menu options from cheesy hamburgers to salads. Its signature dish, Frosty has been from the first day at Wendy’s. The pig-tailed logo of Wendy’s is in memorandum of Davos Thomas Daughter Melinda after which the company is named. It had a slow start in 1960s and it gained momentum after the change of leadership in 1980s. They revitalized the company and started restructuring by eliminating the old stores and many other innovations. These changes were reflected in soaring sales and widespread recognition of the company’s brand.

Dave Thomas has to come back from his retirement to revive the dying brand of Wendy’s and from then it has just expanded. During its 46 year old journey, Wendy’s has acquired many companies like Sisters, which were famous for its biscuits and Tim Hortons. Now, it has its presence in over 30 countries worldwide and is one of the most recognized brands.
