Today is an era of digitalization, machine learning and increase in the use of AI to make our work simpler and efficient. Accordingly there is a huge paradigm shift in healthcare industry with the emergence of AI in healthcare sector, solving the problems of patients, doctors, hospital and healthcare industry as a whole. In this shift, data being the main reasons for adoption of AI, as we everyday deal with numbers of data which become difficult for human mind to perceive the patterns and come with effective prediction and references or conclusions. From many surveys we can find out that by 2050 AI in healthcare industry will be ubiquitous.

AI manipulation in India is developing as the growth in Indian healthcare sector is estimated grow $372 billion by 2022. The survey report shown by CIS India shows that, AI could help to add USD 957 billion to Indian economy by 2035. The state governments are also providing support to the AI- start-ups in India.

Benefits of AI in healthcare industry:

1. Algorithms are supporting the doctors to manage the drug and provide good combination of drugs for the patients.

2. AI assisted robotics guides the surgeon’s instrument during the procedure which can help in saving time reduce the complication during surgery. It can reduce any human error which sometimes can occur due to many other factors like emotion, fear etc.

3. Robot acts as virtual nurses 24/7. These robots if implemented can save $20 billion annually in healthcare industry.

4. Fitness monitoring watches can help improve the health of people with regular monitoring and can provide the data for better health care and solutions to doctors.

5. Healthcare bots can help patients in solving their questions and provide them information on medications and doses.

6. AI has potential to improve outcome by 30-40% and reduce the cost of treatment by 50%. It can see the patterns from the input data and allow them to communicate to the doctors and provide them accurate information and also helps in saving the time of both patients and doctor.

Disadvantages of AI in healthcare sector:

1. Expensive to implement and technological advancement is required to implement AI in healthcare sector which can be difficult and lot of research and advancement is required

2. Regulation and coping with it is itself a big challenge during AI implementation. There is a need to approvals from the FDA before AI device or application is applied in the healthcare sector.

Recent facts:

1. Apollo hospital and Microsoft will work together and develop and deploy new machine learning models to predict patient risk for heart risk and assist doctors to implement treatment plans.

2. Babylon Application- this app helps to analyse the symptoms provided by the patient and looks at the history of patient and offers a treatment plan.

3. London hospitals are planning to replace doctors and nurses with the implementation of AI, 76,4% of patient needing urgent care were treated in 4 hours in England this was only possible with the help of Machine Learning, data analyses and Use of AI.

“Machines will never replace doctors, but the use of data, expertise and technology can radically change how we manage our services – for the better,” -Levi.
