Established by Baba Ramdev along with Acharya Balkrishna, the objective of the company is to establish the science of Ayurved in accordance with the technology of today. The products offered by the company are in the personal care and foods segments including baby care and beauty products.

Currently it has around 450 different kinds of products and it also manufactures over 300 medicines for the treatment of a range of body ailments. The company claims that all its products are made from natural components and Ayurveda. Patanjali’s Dant Kanti, Ghee, Kesh Kanti, herbal bath soap and honey are some of the its best selling products which have propelled the growth of this company. Patanjali’s noodles was an attempt to promote a more healthy eating habit in the kids of the country.

The reasons for the success of the company are two folds; one is the shift in the lifestyle of the Indian customers towards using more natural and Ayurvedic products, the second reason is that the Patanjali products are significantly less expensive than other personal care and food products in the market. This has made a significant proportion of Indian middle class to move towards Patanjali. This has led to a cause of concern for industry leaders such as HUL and Colgate whose products have been directly challenged by Patanjali products.
